Who we are

My intrigue with the natural world began in the fall of 2002 when I moved to Portland Oregon. Due to the abundance of rainfall- 9 months out of the year- the lush, green environment immediately called to me & I became entranced by the idea of working outdoors with plants. A multi-tasker by nature (for better or worse), I kept one foot in the creative world of clothing & design retail which I began working in at age 15, while beginning to explore the world of gardening as a profession. By 2008 I had shifted entirely to working with plants~ installing garden designs for a boutique nursery, personal gardening for clients, assistant managing a mom & pop garden center, all the while spending my free time tending to my own garden. The winter of 2017 my partner & I moved to Colorado with our dog and 2 cats, settled in the Roaring Fork Valley and I began working for a landscaping company. Around the time of that move, we began having in depth conversations of opening a store like Botany- a boutique houseplant shop that specializes in not only the plants & products we sell, but also the customer service experience. A store like Botany would allow me to combine two career paths I'm passionate about- the interior design & customer service aspects of retail and the calming fulfillment I experience when working with plants. Botany Houseplant Shop was born in the summer of 2022. My hope is to share with others the satisfaction, fulfillment of senses and beautiful simplicity that houseplants have brought to my life.
