In this introductory to advanced techniques class you will learn how to choose seed varieties to suit your needs and space, schedule your seed starting calendar so your starts are ready to plant out at just the right time, choose supplementary lighting for seedling success, create a soil mix for healthy seedlings, the best seed trays or soil blocking technique that is right for you, if you need a heat mat, proper watering techniques, how to harden off correctly, feeding for strong healthy plants, cold stratification and scarification techniques.

Dahlias are one of the most beautiful and coveted of all cut flowers. They come in a mind bending variety of shapes and colors and their beauty is hard to surpass. Come spend the evening with Vanessa Gilbert Meredith of Modern West Floral Company and learn how you can grow these summer beauties in your own yard and be the envy of the neighborhood!

We will demystify the growing process by teaching you how to determine the proper time to plant, ground preparation and watering, staking and pinching, tuber harvesting and dividing, winter storage, how to take cuttings, how to pot and pre-sprout to ensure proper bloom time.

Each participant will receive their own dahlia tuber cutting to root and Modern West Floral Company will have their our farm grown tubers for sale at a discounted price for class participants.

SPRING DAFFODIL ARRANGING

Spring has sprung and the flower itch is stinging! Come learn from Vanessa Gilbert Meredith of Modern West Floral Company about the different varieties of daffodils, how to grow them and how to arrange them!

We will be taking the first flowers of this season (daffodils) and blending them with the last flowers of last season (dried florals). Master sustainable mechanics and create a beautiful arrangement that you can take home and enjoy.

If possible, please bring an opaque vessel approximately 6” tall by 4” wide to use for your arrangement. Modern West Floral Co. will provide all flowers which are grown on her farm in Silt, CO.
